Hello World! Meet The Data & Analytics Addicts At American Tire Distributors
First things first, why does American Tire Distributors (ATD), one of the largest tire distributors in the world, care about data and analytics?
ATD has been around for more than 80 years, employs approximately 5,000 associates and operates more than 140 distribution centers serving 80,000 customers across the U.S. and Canada.
With all of this infrastructure, ATD has decades of data — primed for use. And thankfully for us, we’re finding creative ways to leverage this data to its fullest extent.
That’s why ATD is undertaking a massive transformation to become a digital-enabled distributor that helps its partners drive and thrive into the future.
To power this transformation, our team, the Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence (AACoE for short) was launched to disrupt and revolutionize the replacement tire industry through better usage of data and analytics.
Through the application of artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing, we are breathing new life into the market leader in a legacy industry.
We operate as a “startup” within the larger ATD organization and support all different business units (e.g., sales, operations, supply chain and revenue management), as well as regularly work with customers and manufacturers on analytics initiatives.
In addition to driving bottom-line impact, we are also increasing the broader analytics literacy of ATD and aspire to play an active role in the wider analytics community, particularly in the southeastern U.S. where we’re headquartered.
This blog will serve as a hub to share more about our work including coding tips/tricks, project success stories, and discussions about real-world applications of data science and machine learning.
Our mission is to be a highly effective analytics team that emphasizes transparency and communication as we tackle some of the most challenging data problems across all industries.

We are a bunch of data addicts and have the most exciting job in the world, and we hope you enjoy learning from this content as much as we enjoy creating it.
